Churchill Downs Incorporated (CDI) is the parent company of Churchill Downs--home to one of the most storied and exciting thoroughbred horse races in the world, the Kentucky Derby. Churchill Downs Incorporated was officially established in 1942, but it wasn’t until the 1990s under the leadership of Thomas Meeker that the company took off. CDI began to buy up and build more racetracks, and further stimulated revenue by intrastate and interstate simulcast racetrack wagering. Today, CDI employs over 1,000 employees and boasts revenues exceeding $370 million.
